Drink 1.5 litres by 6pm

Did you know that even mild dehydration - something that can easily occur throughout the day in healthy people - could also have a negative affect on your mood?

In a 2012 study carried out on a group of young healthy females, even just mild dehydration was found to negatively affect things such as concentration, fatigue, vigour, perception of how difficult a task was, and headache.  This occurred when the participants were both resting and exercising.

The NHS Eatwell guide suggest that we should try and drink between 6-8 glasses of fluid a day, that’s about 1.2 -1.5 litres. Obviously water is a great, and free, choice of liquid - but tea, coffee, sugar free drinks and lower fat milk can also count towards your target too!

This week’s challenge for the next 7 days is to fill up a water bottle at the very start of the day and aim to drink 1.5 litres by 6pm. Then try to turn it into a habit.

Why wouldn’t you try something so simple to help manage your mood and shift you in the right direction?!
